Chris Wetiz Looking Forward to a ‘Steamy Eclipse’
March 5, 2010 by Sara

People magazine spoke with New Moon director Chris Weitz recently and asked him about Eclipse and Anna Kendrick’s Oscar nomination.
“I’m looking forward to the sleeping bag scene, I gotta say,” Weitz tells PEOPLE. “That’s going to be very steamy.”
In Eclipse’s fan-favorite “tent scene,” – spoiler alert! – a freezing Bella, who is on the run from evil vamp Victoria, gets a warm-up from werewolf Jacob when he squeezes into her sleeping bag – while a jealous Edward looks on. The movie will open June 30.
Weitz also says he is eager to see Edward’s vampire “parents,” played by Elizabeth Reaser and Peter Facinelli, sink their teeth into Eclipse’s more intense action.
“I have a special interest in seeing Peter and Elizabeth tear people’s heads off,” he says with a laugh. “Knowing them, and how kind of kooky and delightful they are, I’m going to find seeing them being ultra-violent very interesting indeed.”
Weitz, who is not helming Eclipse – director David Slade is taking over – says he is showing his Twilight pride on Oscar Sunday by voting for Anna Kendrick, who plays Bella’s pal Jessica in the series. (She is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role opposite George Clooney in Up in the Air.)
“I voted for her of course, because she’s my homie,” says Weitz, adding that New Moon – which is being released on DVD and Blu-Ray March 20 – would have been up for more awards if the Academy had a different voting body.
“If only the Academy were composed of teenage girls, I might be looking at a Best Picture nom,” he joked. “It’s a scandal that there are not more teenage girls in the Academy.”

Anna Kendrick Gains a New Co-star
James McAvoy has had to drop out of “I’m With Cancer”, costarring Anna Kendrick. He’s been replaced by (500) Days of Summer actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Last August, James McAvoy signed on to star in the formerly titled “I’m With Cancer,” a comedy co-starring Seth Rogen about a 25-year-old battling cancer. MTV News has exclusively learned that McAvoy has dropped out of the film after shooting began and that he has been replaced with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.A source close to the production tells us that McAvoy dropped out this week for personal reasons and that producers have locked Gordon-Levitt to step into the role. Shooting on the film, which began last month in Vancouver, has temporarily ceased and will resume the week of March 8. MTV has reached out to Summit Entertainment, and they’ve now confirmed the casting move.
Rogen said in a statement: “It’s incredibly unfortunate that circumstances outside of everyone’s control have taken James away from the project, but, with James’s blessing, we were able to have Joseph step in to take on the [lead] role of Adam. We all look forward to working with James in the future.”
McAvoy’s role as the cancer-stricken twentysomething had been touted as the actor’s first high-profile one following the success of 2008’s “Wanted.” The film is based on the true experiences of screenwriter Will Reiser, who successfully waged his own battle with cancer in his 20s. Rogen is producing with his writing partner Evan Goldberg. The movie co-stars Anna Kendrick and Bryce Dallas Howard.
“‘I’m with Cancer’ is a very personal story, about what happened to our friend for the most part,” Rogen told MTV News last summer. “So we didn’t really need much added insight into that. I was there with [Reiser] as he experienced a lot of it.”

Crushable: 25 Most Crushable Stars Under 25
Crushable has named its 25 Most Crushable Stars Under 25 and a bunch of Twilight Stars made the list!
Dakota Fanning, 15
Not many child actors are able to make the leap to adult-stardom. Dakota promises to be one of the few to pull it off. She gave us a glimpse of her grown-up bad-girl side in the Twilight sequel, New Moon, playing a member of vamp royalty. And her role as a teenage rock star in The Runaways promises to catapult her from freakishly-talented child prodigy to full-fledged Hollywood star.Anna Kendrick, 24
Anna had a great 2009. First, she graduated from playing Kristen Stewart’s sidekick in the Twilight movies to playing George Clooney’s sidekick in Up in the Air. As if working with George wasn’t enough, the part also earned her an Academy Award nod for Best Supporting Actress. (Anna already has some experience with award shows. At the age of 12, she scored a Tony nomination for her role in the Broadway musical High Society.) Her next project –- Scott Pilgrim vs. the World with Michael Cera in the title role -– isn’t exactly Oscar-bait, but we’re planning to line up for tickets anyway.Kristen Stewart, 19
Kristen specializes in playing girls who are brooding, enigmatic and tough to pin down. The same could be said of Kristen herself. She’s not the type of actress who opens up about her personal life (R-Patz: are they or aren’t they?) and she’s never seemed comfortable with the Twilight fan frenzy. So we’re looking forward to seeing her shift into edgier films, where she seems to belong. She’ll star as rocker Joan Jett in The Runaways and then play a hooker befriended by a grieving married man (James Gandolfini) in Welcome to the Rileys. But don’t worry, fellow Twihards. Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are also on the way.

Anna Kendrick -Among ‘Greatest Performances of the Year’
Time.com has named Anna Kendrick among their “Great Performances” this year. Check it out.
Up in the Air
She shares a sharp intensity with the young Holly Hunter, but Kendrick, 24, took her inspiration for her role as George Clooney’s upstart downsizing colleague in Up in the Air from Faye Dunaway in Network. Kendrick decided her character, Natalie, would think she could be just like Dunaway’s ruthless Diana Christensen, with one twist: “Throughout the movie, she is finding out she can’t be.” It takes a while for the audience to fall for the driven, aggressive Natalie — thanks to lines like “Please, for the love of God, can I fire the next one?” — but Kendrick was always on her side. “Even if she’s going to fail, she wants to dive in and do it.” Kendrick took an ambitious dive from way up in the air and nailed it.

Summit Buys Rights to ‘I’m With Cancer’
Anna Kendrick had signed on to star in a film called I’m with Cancer, which also stars James McAvoy and Seth Rogan. It was just announced that Summit Entertainment will be distributing the film, and fellow Twilight Saga actress Bryce Dallas Howard will also be joining the cast. The film is set to begin filming this month in Vancouver, BC.
Summit Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights to an untitled comedy starring Seth Rogen and James McAvoy from Mandate Pictures, Summit announced on Tuesday. Formerly called “I’m With Cancer,” the movie also stars Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Jonathan Levine (”The Wackness”) will direct a script penned by Will Reiser.
No word on the plot, although it’s supposed to be a comedy in the “bittersweet” vein — one the company says deals with “friendship, love, and survival.”
“It’s rare to find a script that has you laughing and crying in equal measure, or a cast and director as perfectly suited to get the tone of this unique and moving film as perfectly right,” Erik Feig, Summit’s president of production, said in a statement.
The project will be produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin. Reiser is executive producing along with Mandate Pictures’ president Nathan Kahane.
Filming will begin principal photography this month in Vancouver.
International sales will be handled by Lionsgate at the European Film Market in Berlin, which starts Thursday.
Mike Welch Congratulates Anna Kendrick on Oscar Nomination
February 6, 2010 by Sara

Michael Welch talked to MTV’s Hollywood Crush about Anna Kendrick’s nomination for an Academy Award.
“Human pride!” Michael beamed when we spoke, revealing where Mike Newton’s loyalties lie. “Represent!”
That’s right: For those of you keeping score at home, it’s vampires zero, werewolves zero, humans one.
Michael was clearly thrilled for his friend and co-star Kendrick, but added that with the “Twilight” saga bringing together so many talented actors, it was just a matter of time before one of them made it into the Oscar promised land.
“There are a lot of people in this that are capable of the kind of work that could lead to an Oscar nomination,” he said of the immensely popular series. “It doesn’t happen to many actors.”
“Anna deserves it. She has an uncanny ability to get under the skin of her characters,” Michael said of the “Up in the Air” actress, who plays Jessica Stanley in the “Twilight” films. “She really seems to understand the mindset of the girls she plays.”
“It’s almost as if she starts out with clichés that we are all familiar with, then builds the character by figuring out their world view, making them unique and personal and therefore turning them from clichés into real people,” he marveled. “Her characters are familiar, but one of a kind. It’s remarkable.”
