FearNet: Interview With Ashley Greene

Ashley Greene is currently on a break from filming The Apparition to promote her movie Skateland at the SXSW film festival. Fearnet’s Jen Yamato caught up with her there to talk about Eclipse.

You got to tear off a vampire’s head in Twilight and face off with the Volturi in New Moon. What can you tell us about the things you get to do in Eclipse, which we know from the book will have more of a fighting element?

The thing I’ll say about Twilight is, one, it’s given me this Hollywood crash course and I’ve been able to work with three great directors. And also, my character is an incredible character to break out with because she’s perky and happy and sweet, and she’s this best friend character that everybody loves, so it’s an amazing first character to have. Throughout the series you’ve gotten to see her go from really sweet to kind of sassy, and now in the third one we get to showcase this massive fight sequence that I’m a part of, so we got to get our action star fix. You get to see Alice get kind of down and dirty and see a really intense side of her that maybe you haven’t seen before.

In New Moon your scenes with Taylor seemed to have more of a snap, perhaps because you’d gotten to know each other better after Twilight and could riff of each other more, and also because your characters would love to rip each other’s head off in their scenes together. Do we get to see more of that banter and repartee with Taylor in Eclipse?

Those scenes are really fun to film! You know, they always say that the nicest people can play the meanest characters. I remember someone saying in an interview that Rachel McAdams was the sweetest girl, and she played this awful, mean character in Mean Girls. I think it’s the same thing with Taylor. He’s so sweet, I can look at him and be mean to him onscreen or have a fight with him and know that he’s not going to take it personally, so we definitely got to play off each other a little bit.

A few new details on Ashley Greene’s film The Apparition that is currently filming in Berlin, Germany.

Principal photography has begun on Warner Bros. Pictures and Dark Castle Entertainment’s paranormal suspense thriller “The Apparition.” Todd Lincoln makes his feature directorial debut on the film, which stars Ashley Greene of the “Twilight” series, Sebastian Stan from TV’s “Gossip Girl” and Tom Felton of the “Harry Potter” films.

When frightening events start to occur in their home, young couple Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben (Sebastian Stan) discover they are being haunted by a presence that was accidentally conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. The horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and torments them no matter where they try to run. Their last hope is an expert in the supernatural (Tom Felton), but even with his help they may already be too late to save themselves from this terrifying force.

Shooting is underway at historic Studio Babelsberg in Berlin , Germany, and will move to Los Angeles toward the end of production. “The Apparition” is being produced under the Dark Castle banner by Joel Silver, Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman. The executive producers are Steve Richards, Sue Baden-Powell and Daniel Alter.

Lincoln, who wrote the screenplay along with Carl Ellsworth (“Red Eye,” “Disturbia”), is an award-winning short film/commercial/music video director whose work has screened at film festivals, art galleries and microcinemas around the world.

Lincoln is joined behind the scenes by director of photography Daniel Pearl (“Friday the 13th,” “AVPR: Alien vs. Predator – Requiem”), production designer Steve Saklad (“Up in the Air,” “Drag Me to Hell”), editor Tom Elkins (“The Haunting in Connecticut ”) and costume designer Kimberly Adams-Galligan (“The Chronicles of Narnia” films).

Hollywood Today discusses Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene’s film Warrior.

Warrior centers around top ranked west coast high school lacrosse player Conor Sullivan (Lutz), whose world is torn apart when he is forced to relocate to a demanding new prep school where the competition is cut-throat and the rivalry is fierce.  When Conor’s father, and most ardent supporter, is tragically killed just weeks after the family’s move, Conor finds emotional refuge in a relationship with his new coach’s daughter Brooklyn, (Greene).  The pressure proves too intense and Conor, always a maverick and hothead, starts down a vicious path of self-destruction. He risks everything he loves including Brooklyn and his coveted position on the school lacrosse team. Connor is forced into grueling training in a Native American wilderness lacrosse camp, under the tutelage of his dad’s old combat buddy Sgt. Major Duke Wayne (Beach).  This experience opens Conor’s eyes to the true meaning of perseverance, sportsmanship, manhood, and love…”

Ashley, Anna, and Kristen – Glamour UK Stylish Women of 2010

January 31, 2010 by Sara

Glamour UK announced their nominees for Stylish Women of 2010 and Kristen Stewart, Anna Kendrick and Ashley Greene all made the list.

Kristen Stewart
Age: 19
Made The List Because: Kristen’s punky style shocked conservative Hollywood (but in a good way). She famously teamed a Yigal Azrouel mini dress with a pair of Converse trainers on the 2009 MTV Awards red carpet – and actually got away with it!
The Next: Juliette Lewis

To vote for Kristen, click here.

GlamourStyleAnna

Anna Kendrick
Age: 24
Made The List Because: This year’s plethora of nominations has transformed Anna Kendrick from teen star to Hollywood big-hitter – and her wardrobe has only emphasised this. Elegant without being showy, Anna has given the red-carpet veterans something to talk about.
The Next: Sandra Bullock

To vote for Anna, click here.

GlamourStyleAshley

Ashley Greene
Age: 22
Made The List Because: We have the distinct feeling that this Twilight star is still finding her fashion feet – her style picks include a neon-pink shift dress and a red pin-striped suit – but her experimental choices are certainly heading in the right direction.
The Next: Rachel Bilson

Kristen and Ashley on AskMen’s Top 99 Women of 2010

January 20, 2010 by Sara

Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene are on AskMen’s Top 99 Women of 2010!

Kristen ranked at # 21

Kristen Stewart is an industry vet, and she’s not even 20 years old. The actress was playing Jodie Foster’s daughter in Panic Room when kids her age were getting their first paper routes. But unlike Haley Joel Osment, Stewart has made the transition from child star to adult actress look relatively easy, namely thanks to her high-profile role as Bella Swan in the big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight.

When the film hit theaters in November 2008, she and costar Robert Pattinson experienced the same kind of unnerving immediate rise to fame that Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet experienced post-Titanic. Posters of Stewart suddenly became makeshift wallpaper inside locker doors in high schools across America, or they substituted as dartboards for all those females who were envious of her onscreen and rumored off-screen time with Pattinson, much to Stewart’s dismay. “I don’t want to be a movie star like Angelina Jolie,” Stewart told BlackBook magazine. “Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable. I’m an actor. It’s bizarre to me that everybody’s so obsessive.”
Ashley ranked at #41
She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, but upon deciding to become an actress, she buckled down, finished school early at the age of 17 and booked it west to Hollywood. Although she started her acting career with bit parts on shows like Punk’d and Crossing Jordan, it wasn’t long until Ashley won the part of Alice Cullen in the Twilight franchise, based on Stephenie Meyer’s novels. Reprising her role in both New Moon and the upcoming Eclipse, Ashley Greene makes for at least one good reason to sit through the vampire flicks with your Robert Pattinson-obsessed girlfriend, because you deserve some eye candy too. Also, look for her in 2010’s The Apparition, about a couple haunted by a supernatural being. We promise there are no vampires involved. And if your lustful fantasies aren’t fulfilled there, check out her ad campaign for SoBe Lifewater — we promise you won’t be disappointed.
