Waiting For An “Eclipse”
Like every Twilight fan on the planet, I’ve been counting down the days until the release of Eclipse. I’ve read all the books (I’ll never admit how many times I’ve read them all) but Eclipse is by far my favorite (although if I had to break down my favorite chapters, I would have to go with Chapter 5 in Breaking Dawn. You all know why).
As most fans, I’m excited, and a little worried. What if they leave out my favorite moments? Thankfully, we’ve had the opportunity to get some “sneak peeks” from those lucky few who have seen an early release. So it appears that the “Sex Talk” scene with Charlie is in. Thank heaven. Just the thought of Billy Burke in that scene makes me giggle. God, I love him. It sounds like they’ve blended some scenes together to account for time and well, let’s face it, they have to. No “Alice kidnapping” scene, which means that Bella will run away with Jake right in front of Edward? This bothers me some, since this seems out of character for Bella, at least the book version of Bella. In the novel, the only time she contemplates running away to see Jake is when Edward is gone, although he’s on her mind constantly. Hopefully they make this work in the film.
Apparently Riley has a huge part in this movie. Did I hear someone call him a “lead role”? Again, a little worried. In the book, we don’t see Riley until the very end. It’s all speculation until Bella has her “epiphany” and realizes that Victoria is behind the Newborn Army, which brings me to an unrealistic part of the book (yeah, I know) where it’s Bella (not the psychic vamp, not the mind-reading vamp, and not the ancient all-knowing vamp) that discovers this truth. But that aside, I’m hoping they don’t devote too much screen time to Riley. The novel revolves around the three leads and hopefully the movie will as well. I am counting on that!
On to the special effects: After watching the Eclipse trailer, I’m concerned that the wolves may not appear to be looking directly at their prey. I’m fanatic about details, and really hope they tweaked the final cut. As far as the wig issue goes, I’m a little annoyed with our girl. Hair is a very big deal in a movie and it’s painfully obvious is the early photos that it is a wig. Rumor has it that there was some CGI done on her, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
And of course, my dream boy, Edward. Is it me, or does he seem much too pale in the outdoor shots, but absolutely perfect during the inside shots (and by inside shots, I’m specifically referring to the bedroom scenes)? A little consistency would be nice, but ah heck. I’ll be gushing over him no matter what so who really cares about those pesky details. Alot of Edward is what I’ll be looking for in this movie!
Jacob looks fantastic (and I didn’t think he could look better than he did in New Moon). And he’s legal now ladies, so it’s okay to swoon. He will likely be the hero in this movie and that’s fine with me. Gotta give the poor guy something, after all, he doesn’t get the girl in the end. At least he can have the glory.
And finally, Victoria. Personally, I think Bryce is absolutely gorgeous. I want to like her, but it’s difficult when an actor is changed in the midst of a series. It is too bad that Rachel was booted from the third installment, but as we’ve all heard, you can’t always negotiate with the big guns. Summit made it quite clear that they can take you or leave you so a note to all of the supporting roles in Breaking Dawn: Don’t screw this up for us! We love you all but make your deal, and make it quick. We Twihards can’t be stressin’ about who’s in and who’s out! We have enough on our plates trying to juggle Edward and Jacob. Seriously!
June 30th, 2010 cannot come fast enough for this Twilight fan. My premier party is already planned. I have a feeling I will enjoy this movie no matter what, but I’ll “break it down for you later.”

LA Times Interview With Alex, Chaske, and Julia
May 3, 2010 by Sara
The folks over at the LA Times have a new interview with wolfpack members Alex Meraz , Chaske Spencer, and Julia Jones. Here are some highlights from each person-
Alex Meraz (Paul)
“The fans are going to love this film,” he said. “I didn’t get my chance to touch anybody in ‘New Moon.’ This time I go at it with Emmett [ Kellan Lutz]. I give him a nice bitch slap. But I’m in wolf form, so maybe it’s a big paw slap?
So what of all those topless scenes?
“I have a newfound respect for women. I have to keep my figure. Girls are telling me to take my shirt off. It’s like, ‘Hello! I’m a person, too!’ “
Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater)
Bryce Dallas Howard isn’t the only new face to join the burgeoning ensemble cast. Jones will make her debut to the franchise as Leah Clearwater, the scorned and bitter sole female member of the Wolf Pack.
“She’s really a tough character,” said Jones, 29. “She’s pretty angry about a lot of things that she has every right to be angry about. She’s miserable and lost and trying to cope internally without a lot of help. And she lashes out quite a bit.”
Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley)
Spencer is in Arizona shooting his new film “Shouting Secrets,” about a successful young writer in Los Angeles who is called back to his Native American background to tend to his ailing mother.
With the media blitz already in full effect for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” Spencer said working on something completely different is a way to escape. But there’s no escaping the constant pleas for spoilers from the new flick. And like his character’s quiet, shadow-like wolf form, he only gives a whisper of details.
“This time around, Sam has to put his ego aside to take on this new breed of vampires,” Spencer said. “There’s a lot of new relationships being formed.”

New Eclipse Still From Entertainment Weekly Summer Movie Preview Issue
In Entertainment Weekly’s new Summer Movie Preview, Kristen Stewart tells EW that it felt weird kissing Taylor Lautner-
For Kristen Stewart, who reprises her role as Bella in Twilight: Eclipse, locking lips with costar Taylor Lautner (who plays her pal Jacob) felt odd—not just because she thinks of Lautner as a kid brother, but because Bella’s heart truly belongs to vampire hottie Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). “It felt really weird kissing someone else as Bella,” says Stewart. “I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ It was a really strange experience—as it should have been.”
Jackson Rathbone Chats With the New York Post

Jackson Rathbone recently spoke with the folks at the New York Post about his new film Dread and Eclipse!
PW: You seem to jump around with your films and characters — never sticking with one genre for too long. Is that kind of the plan?
Jackson: Absolutely. I want to spread my wings and play as many different characters as possible. Growing up, in the theater, I always played these out-there characters, I was never the leading man. Honestly, I find it a little more boring than playing the psycho or bad guy antagonist. It’s something I’ve always tried to go for. I try to change my look, my walk, my talk in every single person I play. It’s important to me as an actor not to get pigeonholed.PW: So is it difficult then to play Jasper over the course of five films?
Jackson: The thing I like about Jasper’s arc is that it’s very developed — you don’t know much about him in the first film. He’s always in pain but don’t know why, until the second film, when you realize that he’s the newest to the family and he’s basically dying of hunger. It’s very difficult to live that vampryic lifestyle. So he’s having trouble adjusting. In the third film, we get to see Jasper’s backstory – see who he used to be and why he’s having such a hard time transitioning.PW: So “Eclipse” will flashback to his time in The Civil War?
Jackson: Yeah. We do a little segue/backstory in “Eclipse”,when he was turned during the Civil War. We get to see his more aggressive tendencies. When you’re first turned into a vampire, that’s when you’re at your most ravenous, most vicious – so you see Jasper go through that. It was a lot of fun to bring out the darker side of Jasper that he’s been holding back.

MTV: Jasper vs. Sokka
Jackson Rathbone spoke with MTV about who he thought would win in a fight: Jasper from The Twilight Saga or Sokka from The Last Airbender.
“My character’s more of a sardonic figure,” Rathbone told MTV News. “But he’s a budding young warrior, so I got to do a lot of hand-to-hand fighting, which was really fun. I had to go through about two-to-three months of kung-fu training, that was just… Oh, man, that was a workout.”
“But it was fun, I learned a lot,” he continued. “I’m a lot more flexible now. It was really cool to get to do a lot of the hand-to-hand fight scenes where you’re walking through this war zone and suddenly somebody jumps out at you and you have to kind of block and hit them in the head. It was pretty crazy. My character is armed with a boomerang.”
As for what audiences will see when “Airbender” hits theaters, Rathbone gushed about the film’s FX-heavy moments.
“I’ve seen clips and bits of the scenes and the CGI, and they’re both going to be incredible, and they’re going to blow people away,” he said. “What modern technology’s able to do is just mind-blowing, it’s such an honor and a privilege to be part of these films.”
However, when pressed to admit who’s tougher, Sokka or Jasper, Rathbone declined to even consider the two characters squaring off — but he did admit to feeling the pressure to pick a favorite.
“It’s actually kind of funny, because my friends were ripping me about that last night,” he said. “Now that I have these action figures, these Jasper action figures, and they’re coming out with the Sokka action figures for ‘Airbender,’ they’re saying they’re going to buy both of them and fight them.”
“Who would win? I don’t know,” he said. “I kind of want to stay out of that one. I’m not really a betting man. … I’ll be Switzerland.”

MTV Interview With Ashley Greene

MTV has a cute new interview with Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) – check it out!
The tabloid covers may be dominated by Rob and Kristen, but in the hearts and minds of “Twilight” fans, there is no cover girl as dazzling as so-sweet-she’ll-give-you-a-cavity series star Ashley Greene. With “New Moon” less than a month away (hooray!), and Alice Cullen’s screen time substantially increased, we caught up with the actress and occasional MTV News correspondent to get her latest thoughts on stealing expensive cars, playing board games with Kellan Lutz, and the “New Moon” cast’s shared love of … kittens?
MTV: What was your favorite “New Moon” scene to shoot?
Ashley Greene: Of course, the Porsche was incredible, the whole experience of filming [that scene]. Working with Michael Sheen, it was just really funny how he created this whole atmosphere out of the scene and could switch it up. Everything that he did was a little bit inspired, and so the whole Volturi scene with him was really fun to do. [I also love] the whole Cullen scene, when Bella gets a paper cut and Jasper goes crazy — you haven’t seen that side of him yet. The performances are great, and the whole dynamic is really great. That was one of my favorite scenes to watch.
MTV: You guys have become such good friends and have so much downtime between takes. What sort of things do you talk about when the cameras aren’t rolling?
Greene: Between takes? Gosh, everything. YouTube was a big topic of conversation; we were sharing YouTube videos. Which was kinda funny, because [we'd be filming a] really intense situation, and then they would yell, “Cut!” and we would have 20 minutes and we’d break out “Kittens Inspired by Kittens.” It’s this little girl reading a kittens book. [Laughs.]
MTV: So Alice and Bella would be giggling between all that drama?
Greene: Yeah, there was a lot of that, just a lot of giggling and laughing. During “New Moon,” especially in Italy, me and Kristen were, like, the only girls. So there was a lot of girly giggling going on.

Alex Meraz and Kiowa Gordon in Vanity Fair

In Vanity Fair, Alex Meraz (Paul) and Kiowa Gordon (Embry) chat about New Moon and Eclipse!
Highlights from Alex Meraz.
Did you receive any guidance from any of the other actors on set?
At that point, you’ve got yourself a job. There’s nothing that anyone else is really going to teach you. I didn’t have anyone holding my hand when I did the audition. What I did to get the job is what I had to do on film. In terms of everything else that was coming with that, with the fame and all of that stuff, [director] Chris Weitz and Kristen [Stewart] had the best advice to give me.
What was it like filming the third installment, Eclipse? It was no pressure. The pressure was doing the job on the first one, trying to understand the character. On this one, I felt a little bit more comfortable with what I was doing. I already knew the cast, so it was a lot easier.
Has much changed since you’ve started filming the Twilight movies?
Well, I’ve got a lot more family members now! [Laughs] I don’t know, people say after the movie opens things are really going to change. I’m getting a lot of meetings with really great directors and producers—people I really admire. It’s a really good gig to have. The fans are amazing. They’re really the ones that are changing everything for each actor.
Highlights from Kiowa Gordon.
Did anyone on set take you under their wing or give you any good advice?
Just the Wolf Pack. We all helped each other along and gave each other advice.
Has anyone tried to prepare for what’s coming once the film is out?
They’re trying! They keep telling me that it’s going to be a lot crazier than what I’ve seen. They keep telling me that I can’t go outside of my house. I just think it’s nonsense.
Are people recognizing you already in Arizona?
Sometimes, yeah. They just look away and start laughing and whispering to their friends, but I know what they talk about because I can overhear.
Have you seen the finished film yet?
No. I saw the rough cut with Stephenie a couple of months ago. It was really good. I’m sure it’ll be 100 times better when it comes out.

Eclipse Going to Be Dark
September 22, 2009 by Sara

E! Online chatted with The Twilight Saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg who mentioned the dark turn that Eclipse will take in the film franchise.
To find out how dark Eclipse will be, we’ll have to wait until the movie actually comes out.
But Twi-screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg says there’s absolutely no doubt the third flick in the vampire franchise is taking a darker turn.
And she credits the storyline and director David Slade for that…
“David has a darker sensibility, so it clicks,” Rosenberg said. “The story has a slightly darker tone. I mean, it goes into a full-out battle, so it is darker in the nature of what it is. David was the perfect director for it.”
Rosenberg’s comments came just a day after Justin Chon, who plays Eric Yorkie in the Twi-movies, told me Eclipse is “gravitating toward more of a dark kind of moody film.”
But not to worry, Rosenberg said, Eclipse won’t be unrecognizable. “They have the continuity of having the same writers and same actors, but the directors put their own stamp on it,” she said. “They’ll be similar, but very different.”
