New Zealand Herald Interview Robert Pattinson

Rob Pattinson talked with New Zealand Herald about dealing with his new-found fame and playing Edward a second time around.
When Robert Pattinson’s character, Cedric Diggory, was ruthlessly slain in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- thereby ending his brief, but magical spell at Hogwarts – it could so easily have been curtains for his fledgling career. Instead, it acted as the catalyst for a grander fantasy, as he was propelled from bit-part wizard to vampire lead Edward Cullen in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling teen-tome, Twilight.
In doing so, not only has Pattinson starred in two of the biggest fantasy franchises in film history – a huge coup for any aspiring actor – but he’s also become one of Hollywood’s hottest new stars and a pin-up for hordes of adoring, teenage girls.
Accordingly, his life’s become a whirl of crazed, Twilight fans loitering outside his home, the paparazzi preying upon his every move and being mobbed whenever he appears in public. It’s a predicament he’s struggling to cope with.“Every time I go out, no matter where I am, people just go completely nuts! It’s unreal,” he says, shaking his head in disbelief. “When I started doing this, I knew the books were big in America but it keeps surprising me how much bigger everything’s getting! Every time I see physical manifestations of it, like fans going wild, my brain can’t process it, because it’s just too weird.

Robert Pattinson in USA Weekend
October 23, 2009 by Sara

USA Weekend, a magazine found in many Sunday papers, has an interview with Robert Pattinson. Check it out -
“For each movie, Pattinson says he’s tried to reinvent Edward a little bit. The first Twilight film had him falling in love with the human Bella (Stewart); New Moon has him banishing himself from Bella’s life, thereby creating a love triangle with the werewolf Jacob (Lautner); and Eclipse creates a tenuous co-existence between Edward and Jacob. “He’s definitely quite different” in Eclipse, Pattinson says of Edward. “In some ways, he’s more relaxed being around humans, and at the same time, he’s competing a lot more with Jacob so he has a lot more petty emotions rather than just thinking in these absolutes like he did in the first two. I’m just trying to keep it interesting for myself as well.”
To get the full story, see USA Weekend on Sunday. Here’s a list of where you can find the issue.
Rome Film Festival Updates
Previously unseen New Moon footage premiered at the Rome Film Festival earlier today. Here is a description of the scenes they showed.
SPOILER ALERT!
From Rome
- They showed 3 unseens. Edward leaving Bella, from when he was waiting for her at home, untile he leaves, then a featurette of Bella running toward Edward and hugging him in Montepulciano, in the Volterra scene and another featurette showing the Volturi hall, without the CGI decorations
Edward leaves Bella:
Edward is waiting for Bella at her house, because they need to talk. He tells her he needs to leave Forks because Carlisle is raising suspicions in town. At first Bella is convinced that Edward wants to take her with him, but then starts realizing that’s not the case. She asks Edward: “What do you mean by “us”?”. He responds: “Only my family.” Bella gets upset. Tells Edward again that the incident with Jasper was nothing, and Edward answers that is exactly the problem: “Nothing compared to what could have happened.”He tells her she doesn’t belong in his world. Bella answers “Well, that changes many things.” That is when Edward says line we’ve seen in the trailer “This is the last time you’ll see me.” Bella tries to convince him to stay, that she’s not afraid to lose her soul, but Edward doesn’t give in. The scene ends with Edward leaving. Screen then goes to black and we see Bella fall to the ground.
Eclipse Filming Details Thanks to Lainey Gossip
Lainey once again gives us some more juicy Eclipse filming details – (WED)
As I reported yesterday filming has been mostly on a soundstage for scenes at “Bella’s” house. For you Twilight fans interested in what they’ve been up to:
Wednesday’s shoot involved a creepy Riley getting all stalkerish in Bella’s room and “Edward” the hero realising someone was there.
Lainey once again gives us some more juicy Eclipse filming details – (Mon, Tues)
On Monday, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were in “Florida” at a beach house with “Bella’s” mother played by Sarah Clarke. Sarah left Vancouver yesterday after completing her scenes.
Billy Burke who plays the father is still in town, tweeting about rehearsals, and hanging out with his girlfriend (?) and child. All filming on set this week take place at Bella’s house (on a sound stage) so Billy has been shooting with a busy Kristen Stewart.
My sources tell me exclusively that scenes include: “Bella” reading “Jacob’s” letter, Bella and Jacob and their angsty discussions, “Edward” telling Bella he’ll always love her and that she will always be “his” , and Bella hanging out with “Angela” (played by Christian Serratos) and they talk about boys and Bella’s Edward/Jacob love triangle.

Edward Cullen – Hollywood’s 5th Most Powerful Vampire
Forbes.com has released a list of Hollywood’s Most Powerful Vampires and our very own Twilght star, Edward Cullen takes the number 5 spot. Here is what they say about Edward:
As the love interest of Bella Swan in the commercially successful Twilight film, Edward Cullen plays a permanently 17-year-old vampire. The Summit Entertainment movie, which is the first of three planned, became a sensation. It reaped $191 million at the domestic box office, marking the first big success of independent film studio Summit Entertainment.
Click through to see more of the list.
Rounding out the top 5:
1) Bill Compton
2) Angel
3) Spike
4) Blade
5) Edward Cullen
Here was how they determined the list:
Just for fun, we decided to see which versions of the vampire are the most popular (and potentially most lucrative) in entertainment. We considered all major vampire characters in wide-release films and television series in the last 30 years. (Characters in vampire-centric series who are not vampires throughout the majority of the storyline, notably vampire hunters and vampire paramours, were not considered.) Rankings were based on television ratings, inflation-adjusted box office performance, as well as presence in popular culture through blog and press mentions.

Robert Pattinson EW’s Top Hottie of 2009
Entertainment Weekly release Top 25 Hotties of ‘09 list. Robert Pattinson has taken the number one spot. Here is what one fan said about Rob.
1. ROBERT PATTINSON
Edward Cullen in TwilightI am 65 years old and nuts about Rob Pattinson. I have seen Twilight too many times to count. He is so hot! The only excuse I have is that he is really 108 years old, not too old for me! —Pamela Leach

Newsweek “Dummies Guide to New Moon”
A new article from Newsweek offers an explanation of why the highly anticipated New Moon is all the rage right now.
Listen very, very closely. Hear that high-pitched noise? That’s the reverberating sound of squealing Twilight fans. First came last week’s release of the latest trailer for New Moon, the new movie installment of the bestselling teen vampire book series. Then, as if that weren’t enough, stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were caught canoodling at a Kings of Leon concert. Could it be that Kristen and Rob are a real-world Bella and Edward? That might cause too much happiness (and/or jealousy) for Twilight fans to bear.
In case you’re a rare surviving specimen of the endangered species known as the “non-Twilight fan,” here’s a quick guide to the (supernaturally attractive) cast of New Moon. Trust us, if you stare at their pictures for long enough, you’re bound to become another squealer.
Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan): With that snowy white skin and those dark, mysterious eyes, it’s no wonder that Bella’s blood is Edward’s “personal brand of heroin.” So if those real-life romance rumors turn out to be true, it really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen): a.k.a. pure sex. Asking a girl if she thinks Robert Pattinson is hot is like asking if the pope’s a Catholic. The brooding British hottie has been known to cause epidemics of teenage girls swooning in movie theaters ever since he took to the big screen as the tragic hero Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
