Dakota Fanning and Cameron Bright (Jane & Alec) who star in the upcoming New Moon, talked with TeenHollywood about their characters in New Moon. Check it out!
TeenHollywood: Dakota, as such a fan of the series, you’ve said in many interviews before that you were really excited about this so what were the highlights of playing Jane and do you get to do more in the next movie?
Dakota: I think the highlight of playing Jane was getting to wear that costume and to have the red contact lenses. I was really excited about that, and getting to play an evil character. The next movie I already finished doing, Eclipse, I’m still not very much in the movie.
TeenHollywood: But you come in bigtime in Breaking Dawn. What did you think when you first saw yourself wearing the red contacts?
Dakota: I know! It’s really scary. I think it makes anyone look automatically evil. But yeah, it was really fun. You get used to them after a while. You can see pretty good, but it’s still kind of weird.
TeenHollywood: Are you excited about Breaking Dawn?
Dakota: Yeah. We see all of us in that last one. I think it culminates in the final battle which is a really cool scene to read in the book.

Dakota Fanning in Teen Vogue

“I wasn’t in my mirror like Zoolander, doing the Blue Steel!” she says. “The red contacts were enough. I read all four Twilight books in one week. It’s such a phenomenon, and I wanted to be able to say that I was a part of it.”
When asked about Kristen Stewart, Dakota said,”We became really close, like we’d known each other for our whole lives. We talk all the time. I’ve never been such an evil character, and because I do know Kristen so well, being mean to her was really weird. It’s like, Sorry, dude! The relationship that Joan and Cherie have in the script is kind of the one that Kristen and I have in real life…minus the destructive part.”
In an e-mail from the Eclipse set, Kristen talks about her costar, writing, “Dakota is one of the most consistently moving actors I have ever worked with. I’m always better with her.”
Speaking about her career, Dakota says, “I’m going to get older, And I want to act for the rest of my life—it’s what I love—so I have to move forward with my career. The choices that I make might not always please everyone, but I have to do what I feel is appropriate and right for the time.”
“I get my rebellion out through my movies. I’m boring in that way. I enjoy having a normal life. I really wanted a home base, because I feel like no matter how old people are, they remember homecoming. They remember their senior prom. And I really wanted that.”
Dakota doesn’t date much. “One boy from my school,” she says. “I have a small class, so the pool is very limited. Everyone kind of knows everyone.” Dakota’s studying psychology and cement sculpture while she weighs movie offers. She is also a (rumored JV) cheerleader. Bring that up, and her response is, ”I’m varsity now, thank you,”

Dakota Fanning in New York Times

New Moon Volturi Guard Jane aka Dakota Fanning, had gorgeous photos taken of her recently via The New York Times. The article states -
Dakota Fanning is so self-possessed and so articulate that the only reminder you’re speaking with a 15-year-old and not someone much older is her occasional tendency to giggle when she’s sharing some droll aspect of her life.
Dakota shares details on Jane being pure evil -
‘‘You have to be able to separate your personal life from playing a character. . . . That’s not your real life.’’ Good thing; next up for her is ‘‘New Moon,’’ the second film in the ‘‘Twilight’’ series, in which Fanning takes a fangs-first plunge into the darkness as Jane, a very nasty vampire who functions as a kind of vampire enforcer. She didn’t bother trying to find some redeeming characteristic in Jane, she says. ‘‘She’s pretty much evil,’’ Fanning says with a laugh. ‘‘Yes, she may feel like she’s just doing her job by torturing people, but that’s evil.’’

MTV Interview With Chris Weitz

MTV has a new interview with New Moon directer Chris Weitz -
MTV: We all remember that there was a lot of drama around whether Taylor would return for “New Moon.” How close did he come to not being asked back?
Weitz: When I first met with him, I took off my shirt and I said, “You’ve got two months to look this good.” And he said, “I’m willing to try that.” Finally, he came back, and the results were just about as good as my abs. [Laughs.]
MTV: You must have a real six-pack.
Weitz: To answer your question seriously, the character in the second book is meant to be 6-foot-5, let alone transform into a werewolf and all that stuff. And Taylor, having only done three days of work in the first [movie], it was time to take a pause and say, “Should Taylor go ahead and do it?” My overwhelming feeling was, “Yes, absolutely, let’s go forward with it.” To me, it wasn’t a very difficult decision. For Taylor, it wasn’t difficult at all. He knew the character, and he embodied the character — as people are going to see in the movie. So it wasn’t really as tense and as scary a moment as it was portrayed in the media.
MTV: What can you tell us about Dakota Fanning’s performance as the evil vampire Jane?
Weitz: Well, it’s the scariest performance probably you’ve seen out of her so far, because she’s evil for once in her career. I think she really appreciated the chance to do that.

HitFix – Vancouver Set of New Moon
HitFix has Day 2 of its behind-the-scenes coverage of New Moon filming in Vancouver from May, including some new scenes with the Volturi as well as an unexpected scene involving a truce between the Cullens and Volturi–
After a few minutes, they change the angle of the camera and we see Jane — in the same scene — inflicting pain on Edward. Yes, she’s the cause and she does it with little gesturing and without speaking a word. A powerful vampire indeed.
The production has a lot to get through today, so the shot then changes to a close up on Bella who is being held by Alec stopping her from racing to Edward’s side.
“Please stop,” Stewart says, “Don’t hurt him.”
At first, during rehearsal as the camera operator sets up the shot, Stewart says the lines comically with deadpan effect causing some snickers from the crew. But when the take is ready for real, she says it with the expected dramatic resolve. The coverage also expands to find Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene) being allowed to race to Edward’s side. She gesture’s that he’s “OK.”
While Weitz talks to the actors on the set about the next shot, we take time to talk to newcomer Chrisopher Heyerdahl who plays Marcus, a member of the Volturi. The role is a huge break for the struggling British actor, but he seemed to be playing it cool. Intriguingly, he also revealed a flashback scene had been shot, including his character, Aro and Dr. Carlisle Cullen (”Nurse Jackie’s” Peter Facinelli) that set up the “truce” between the two parties way back in the 18th Century. To the other writers on the visit, this seemed to be a scene they didn’t expect would make the movie and were pretty psyched about it being included.
Rotten Tomatoes on New Moon Set
Rotten Tomatoes had the opportunity to visit the set of New Moon in Vancouver. They have a set report where they go into detail on the Volturi interior shots.
Focus fell particularly on Fanning, dressed in a soft, vintage-style white dress, a dark velvet cape, and Mary Janes. Her blonde hair swept into a bun, with pale skin and scarlet lips and dark eye makeup, she had the look of a textbook Little Red Riding Hood — albeit one with blood-red eyes and a steely eeriness about her. “She’s immune to all of us,” Michael Sheen as Aro mused, directing his warrior to turn her pain-inducing powers on Bella. “Shall we, Jane?”
With nary a peep, Fanning’s eyes lit up. She turned her head towards Bella/Kristen Stewart, and gave a slight, cruel smile. Well, the hint of a smile, really. The tension was palpable; in that miniscule movement I was sold on Fanning — at 15 years of age, one of New Moon’s seasoned veterans — and her ability to convey unadulterated malice. On film, you’ll see her bring poor Robert Pattinson to his knees, and you might even enjoy it.
