Inspire Magazine talked to Kirsten Prout about how Eclipse has affected her career eventhough her part in the movie was brief.

She may have had a small part in the latest installment of the Twilight series, Twilight: Eclipse, but she has already generated a lot of buzz among the “Twi-hards.” Kirsten Prout is gradually climbing the charts as she is set to release two new films including My Super Psycho Sweet 16: Part 2.

INSPIRE: You’ve been in numerous television series (including Kyle XY) already. How was it different stepping into a movie (Eclipse), especially one so popular worldwide?

KIRSTEN: It was definitely intimidating stepping onto a set with an established cast, all of whom are tremendously talented. On our show (Kyle XY) we had such a dynamic, so I knew what I was in for as the new kid. That being said, everyone was so welcoming and it was an absolute pleasure working on Eclipse.

I: Did you have to contemplate on the idea of being in the third installment of the series? Have you read the books?
K: To be completely honest, I wasn’t used to the idea of such a small character, but when I saw that it was for Eclipse, I realized it was such a tremendous opportunity and just being involved is enough. It has really opened doors for me and I am so grateful for the experience.

IESB.net Interview With Kristen Prout

Kirsten Prout was interviewed recently with IESB.net about her upcoming role as Lucy in the Twilight Saga: Eclipse

IESB: Had you seen Twilight before auditioning?

Kirsten: Yeah, I had. I was very familiar with the franchise, just because my younger sister was reading the books. I was curious about what she was reading because she was just going through them like nothing. I was like, “What is that?” And she said, “It’s Twilight. It’s a vampire romance.” And I was like, “Oh, that sounds kind of cool.” I started reading it and I just shot through it. It was very readable stuff. And I’d seen the movie because everyone’s seen it.

IESB: What can you say about your character in Eclipse? How does she fit into the story?

Kirsten: Without revealing too much, Lucy is one of the vampires that turns Jasper, played by Jackson Rathbone. Jasper gets turned while he is an officer, and I’m one of the vampires that causes Jasper to be turned during his military career. Lucy appears to be an innocent little victim, and then she turns into something a lot more sinister.

IESB: Is Lucy the darkest character you’ve ever played?

Kirsten: I’ve always been on the good side. I’ve never played a villain, in my entire career. I’m the girl next door, or the girl who helps out, or the girl that makes an innocent escape. For once, I got to look all innocent and have that angelic quality, and then, all of a sudden, turn into something really dark. That was fun for me. That was the first villain that I’ve ever played.

Kristen Prout on Playing Lucy in Eclipse

PopEater.ca recently interviewed Eclipse newcomer Kirsten Prout.

In the new interview they discuss how Kirsten landed the role of Lucy -

I hear you are a bit of a bookworm. Did you read the books before this all happened?

“I’d read all the books beforehand, because my sister is not a very big reader. We’re complete opposites. She’s completely inclined towards math. And I’m kind of an avid reader. So I saw her reading and I was like, ‘What are you reading that’s holding your interest?’ And she said, ‘Oh, there’s this series called ‘Twilight’.’ So I went and I borrowed her books. And I read one a day. I just shot through them.”

I actually wanted to ask you about the audition process. Did you go after this one? Did you get the call?

“I just got the call. I went for one of the other vampires, Bree, and the vampire Bree is supposed to be thirteen years old with very short brown hair. So physically I was absolutely wrong for the part. But I went in, and the casting director and the director liked me so much that they said, ‘OK, you know what? We have another part.’ So they fit me in through that audition, into Lucy, who is also a newborn vampire, and she actually is the one who turns Jasper, which is interesting. The thing about Lucy is that she has long blond hair and very very pale blue eyes and skin, so physically I was a big match for Lucy. I went in for one more audition for Lucy and I ended up showing up on set a few days later.”

From what I recall, Lucy is described, but you don’t actually see a lot of her…is that right?

“The thing is, if you read the book, it’s done in a very different way. In the book, it’s kind of a flashback. In the book she’s more of a vampire who…she was just kind of part of turning Jasper, whereas in the movie, it’s kind of featured, and it’s actually a scene, and Lucy is a lot more prominent in turning Jasper, so it’s a bit different. But I can’t tell you much.” [laughs]

I’m assuming, since it was 1863 when Jasper is turned…

“Wow, look at you!”

[laughs] It’s been a while since I read them, so I did my homework. You’re in period costume then?

“Yeah, well, I mean, again, I can’t really tell you too much, but it was cool because I’ve never actually done anything period. You look at my past parts and they’ve been ninja and girl-next-door and crazy random stuff. But I’ve never ever done a period piece, so for me, this whole project, being able to do a period piece was huge for me. And to have a character that was back in time was a lot of fun.”

Because the character is being done a bit differently than it was in the book, did you have any leeway to create the character? Everyone else has a pretty detailed character description.

“I think we’ve all played vampires differently. The way I think about it, everyone is so different. I think about how some people express their hunger, some people express love, some people express all there emotions, they have these certain characteristics that, when they’re hungry or when they love something, their reaction to it is so different, so playing a vampire was interesting for me. Because who’s the authority on what it’s like to smell blood?”

[laughs] You make a good point there.

[laughs] “And how do you react to that, right? So we all kind of took our own approach. Do you seduce your prey? Do you scare them so they’re scared stiff? Do you seduce ‘and’ terrify them? It was something to play with that was definitely fun because you’re playing make believe. Which is the most fun as an actor.”

So will you be doing any stunts in ‘Eclipse’?

“Um, yeah. I mean, there are lots of stunts in the movie. I can’t really disclose a lot, so…” [laughs]

Yeah, I’m sure that non-disclosure agreement was ‘huge’!

“Oh my god! You should have seen it! My agent was like, ‘Yay, you’ve got the part. You just have to come in and sign a couple things.’ I went in and there was this stack on the desk that was bigger than my entire head! And I was like, ‘Holy crap!’” [laughs]

Kirsten also got some pretty good advice from Jackson Rathbone! Check out what he said and the rest of the interview here!

Kristen Prout talks to Limelife about her new role as Lucy in The Twilight Saga:Eclipse. Check it out -

Look out Kristen Stewart because here comes Kirsten Prout. OK, so maybe her role inEclipse isn’t quite as big as Kristen Stewart’s, but we’re pretty excited to see her as Lucy, the newest Twilight vampire. And maybe Kristen should watch out?

Because it sounds like Kirsten Prout is all about Robert Pattinson. Or Edward Cullen, anyway. When asked if she were on Team Jacob or Team Edward, she answered, “Okay, I am team Edward, I am sorry Jacob fans but it’s Edward, they are meant to be together.”

So, should Kristen Stewart watch out? Well, probably not. We think Kirsten Prout simply meant that she wants Bella and Edward to be together. And not necessarily that she wants Edward for herself. We love a logical girl. After all, we usually tend to base our choices on who’s hotter!
