IESB: Interview With Peter Facinelli Part 1

IESB sat down with Peter facinelli to discuss Eclipse and his future projects.
“IESB: David Slade, how was he on set? Every director seems to bring something a little different to the franchise, how different was Slade, considering he knows the vampire genre.
PF: I thought he was a great fit for what they were going for. Every movie has had a little bit of different energy, I think the director sets the tone and David brought a great quality to it, it has a lot more action and I think he understands the action elements to it as well as the love story. There is a lot going on in that book and I was glad he was at the helm.
IESB: Do these events ever get tiring, I don’t mean in a bad way but Comic-con and different events all over the world, does it get a little like, “Wow, there is too much for me to do!”
PF: No, I mean it would be a lot more work this morning if nobody showed up (laughing), so the fact that people are interested and people are willing to take the time to come out to come out and support something that I think is important and also to come out and meet me, I’m always grateful for.
IESB: As an artist are you looking to break off and do a different role now?
PF: I’ve been working for 15 years so I don’t feel like the Twilight movies define me as a person, I am very grateful to have it as part of my career. I’m also currently on Nurse Jackie with Edie Falco which is a total 180 degree turn from this so for me I’ve, throughout these 15 years, have tried to play different characters and every time my agents say, “What do you want to do next?” I say, “Anything I haven’t done before.”

Twihards4Charity Website Up and Running
Thanks to Amanda Bell, The Twilight Examiner, we’ve found out about a really amazing new website started by Peter Facinelli. Check it out below!!!
There are two characteristics certainly belonging to Twilight fans: passion and generosity. On any number of occasions, this fandom has been known to join hands for a given cause and outmuscle even the highest of expectations.
So, what Rob DeFranco and 211me have decided to do, with the help and support of Twilight star Peter Facinelli, is create a place where Twilight fans can go to share in the joy of giving.
“What Rob is trying to do and what I support is this website and uniting the Twihards for a common goal,” says Peter Facinelli. “The one thing that binds Twilight fans is the franchise and the books, and I think that if we band together and have those Twihards focus their energy on things other than the books, I think great things can happen because they’re so dedicated and so passionate.”
The website is www.Twihards4Charity.com, and it has just launched this weekend.
The official mission of the new campaign is as follows:
Twihards4Charity is a new social campaign that helps Twilight fans from all over the world make a difference by uniting them with a common goal – to give to those in need through charities and special causes. 211me has brought in sponsors, brands and support from celebrity favorites like Peter Facinelli to provide TwiHards with Twilight-themed products they love. In return, a portion of the proceeds from every sale will go to a designated cause or charity.
As Peter Facinelli explains it, “Rob Defranco from 211me said ‘Hey, what about doing a website?’ since a lot of people just don’t know where to go to help. So, this is a way that we can streamline all the people to go to one site and find out how to help, and what Rob did was band together with companies like 1-800-Flowers and he’s working on other companies to come together so that they can work together with Rob and basically put the merchandising up there. So, since people are going to buy merchandise anyway, why not have part of it go toward Haiti relief?”
As a first chosen cause for the page to support, Twihards4Charity has teamed up with 1-800-Flowers, as Facinelli said, to offer Twilight fans (and others interested in participating, of course) a special Valentine’s Day package that will go to benefit Haiti relief efforts by the American Red Cross.
As the charity’s first offer, Twihards4Charity “brings you a Valentine’s Day bouquet you can’t pass up. Whether it’s for your sweetheart, your best friend, or a fellow Twihard, this is a perfect gift to say ‘Happy Valentine’s Day.’” The details of the Valentine’s Day offer from Twihards4Charity are as follows: for $49.95, the bouquet contains 12 long-stemmed red roses from 1-800-Flowers, as well as a Twilight giftcard and poster from Hallmark. For every bouquet sold, five dollars of the proceeds will go to Haiti. Details on ordering this bouquet are available the Twihards4Charity website.
For now, the focus of the site is beginning with Haiti relief efforts, but Peter Facinelli says that the future of the charity’s focus is in the hands of Twilight fans.
“You know, I’m going to continue doing my charity stuff, but this website is more about uniting the Twihards, and starting with Haiti. So, maybe it is one of those things where we put a vote out [to see what fans want to support next],” he says. This was also figured into the original plan for the page too, he reveals. “When I talked to Rob, I said ‘I don’t want this to be trying to force people to, you know, do our charities, I want them to be able to pool together for a common cause.’ But I think everyone would recognize that right now Haiti needs help, so I thought well we’ll start with Haiti and go from there.”
Bringing together your favorite goodies with your favorite charity . . . Sounds like a great plan, right?
Peter Facinelli Helps Raise Money for Haiti
Peter Facinelli had a meet and greet event in Temeluca, CA and was apparently a big hit!!
According to the Southwest Riverside News:
“Thousands of Southwest Riverside Twi-hards braved sheets of rain and crowded into the plaza for a glimpse of Facinelli. All waited patiently in lines that stretched in a seemingly endless queue throughout the mall.
The event was part of an effort to raise funds for UNICEF with a portion of the proceeds going towards helping the Haiti earthquake victims. At $25 for autographs and $40 for a photo, it is expected that a considerable sum will be raised to benefit the Haiti relief efforts.”

Peter Facinelli Talks With iVillage

In this new interview with iVillage, Peter Facinelli talks about the Twilight Saga.
What can fans expect from the next film, Eclipse?
Every one of these has had a different director [David Slade directs The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, opening in June] so the feel’s been a little bit different. Each one of the books progressively has more action. New Moon has some really cool action with the werewolves and the Volturi and it builds from there into the third one where the Cullens get to do some really great action stuff. And that’s fun for me, because as a Cullen we’re very reserved and always trying to fit in and look humanlike. But in Eclipse, you get to see what we’re capable of as vampires.
Who would win in a fight between Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson?
In real life? Well I’d have to go Taylor all the way on that one, just because he’s been taking karate since he was in his mother’s womb. And I’ve seen him do some back flips and some high kicks. I think that Taylor would win the fight between him and me, too.
Alright, give us the scoop. Are Rob and Kristen Stewart dating?
You know, I don’t know who my costars are dating, and I don’t ask. I mean, I don’t know who Edie Falco is dating either.
Do you get tired of people asking you that?
Yeah, I get tired of people asking me who Edie Falco is dating all the time!

Peter Facinelli Visits His Old School
Peter Facinelli Tweeted last week about his visit to his high school, St. Francis Prep, in Queens, New York. The local Northern Queens paper covered the visit.
“St. Francis Prep principal Patrick McLaughlin said that Facinelli recently reached out to a teacher at the school and said he would like to come back and talk to students.
“He really did a great job,” said McLaughlin, who taught Facinelli when he was a student at Prep. “When something like this happens, just having him walk back into the school sends an important message to every student in this building that there’s someone who walked in your footsteps and is now very successful.”

Peter Facinelli Discusses His Twilight Journey
December 3, 2009 by Sara

The LA Times has a great new interview with Twilight Saga star Peter Facinelli where he talks about his Twilight journey from beginning to present.
When his agents approached him about taking the role in a “vampire movie,” Facinelli was hesitant.
“I was like, ‘Um, no,’ ” Facinelli recalled. “I was proud of my roles up to that point. I was thinking a gory, B slasher movie. You know, vampires in caves who turn into bats. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. But I read the first book and I couldn’t put it down.If I could have made myself a vampire, I would have. That’s how much I wanted the role.”
Luckily, no skin was punctured in his casting for the part. Now two films into the saga, Facinelli has seen his life — and career — go into overdrive.
“I’m a lot busier,” Facinelli said. “I’m traveling a lot more. And I’m meeting a lot more people. I’ve been acting for 15 years so I’ve sort of always had a fan base. But this is a whole other level of fans. They’re die-hard.”
In between his “medical” commitments — aside from playing bloodsucking Dr. Cullen in the “Twilight” saga, he plays a human doctor on Showtime’s “Nurse Jackie” — Facinelli is communicating with those fans. He can usually be spotted finger-deep on his iPhone, blasting tweets to his million-plus followers on a daily — if not, hourly — basis.
“It’s my way of having control over what people know about me,” Facinelli said.
It’s a savvy attempt to combat the hysteria. While his young “Twilight” costars grapple with the media whirlwind attached to the vampire saga’s success, a slightly older Facinelli has a different outlook.
“It is easier for me to deal with now,” he said. “I can’t compare to Rob [Pattinson] and Kristen [Stewart] because I’m not with them on a day-to-day basis. But I can say that for me, when I was 23 or 24, I wouldn’t have been able to handle this level of success. Being put under a microscope, I wouldn’t have been able to process it. As you get older, you constantly try to find yourself, and in my early 20s I didn’t have a full sense of me. But now, I’ve been with me for a lot longer.”
