Pattinson Online Book Project: Bel Ami
The folks over at Pattinson Online have started a charity project to support Robert Pattinson in his new movie, Bel Ami.
“A few months ago we were approached by Fandemonium Publishing, an imprint of Bibliolife, to create an exclusive fansite version of the novel Bel Ami by Guy de Maupassant[Lexicon note: the reason this is possible is that the book is in the public domain and copyright is no longer an issue.]. Fandemonium and Pattinson Online took Bel Ami, a classic novel, and repackaged it with photographs of Rob on the set of the film adaptation. We worked together to thoughtfully consider each photo, its placement, and the appropriate quotations from the book to bring a brand new version of this classic novel to readers and fans.
Bel Ami is a contagious read because it is written in a manner that both the casual reader and the avid reader can appreciate. We believe our version of the novel will encourage more of Rob’s fans to read the book and build anticipation for the film. While our version focuses on branding the character of Georges Duroy, our ultimate desire is to encourage Rob’s fans to support him in all of his current and future film roles, something we believe distinguishes this project from the fan material currently on the market. In working together, Pattinson Online and Fandemonium have delivered what we feel is an engaging book that respects a classic work.
The Bel Ami Pattinson Online Fan Site Edition will be available for sale on Amazon and its affiliates, as well as Barnes & Noble and several other major book retailers. You can see the book’s official landing page at http://www.belamibook.com/.While the book itself is a big deal for us at Pattinson Online, we’re also excited to be partnering with Fandom Gives Back, a fandom-wide initiative that has raised over $140,000 for childhood cancer research through Alex’s Lemonade Stand. We recently auctioned off two copies of the book which raised $145 for FGB. You can learn more about this awesome project at the official FGB site. http://thefandomgivesback.blogspot.com/
To encourage fans to read Bel Ami, we’re also hosting a Bel Ami Book Club (http://www.robert-pattinson.co.uk/countdown/book-club/) where fans can read and discuss the book along with us. We are hoping to get this started in the next few weeks.”
Robert Pattinson’s Brush With Stalkerish Paparazzi
The ladies over at the Twilight Lexicon have up a really good article about a recent incident with Rob and the paparazzi. If you aren’t familiar with this incident…. read on. It is truly awful what is going on! They are also correct in saying, if people don’t look at these photos, maybe papz will stop taking them!
Back when then Twilight movie was first cast we used to cover various shots of the stars when they weren’t working, things like them going for coffee, out on the town, greeting fans, etc. After awhile we stopped and got really picky about what photos we ran because we realized a couple of things 1) you can only see a star going for coffee so many times and you realize there’s not a story there, 2) even though one shot may seem fine you have no idea if they were hounded before or after that shot, 3) it’s not just the matter of pictures or aggressive in your face pictures, it’s often the matter of having vile things said to the star to provoke a reaction. Questions like so “Have you stopped beating your wife yet? Does you daughter do Ecstasy naked in the hot tub with you?” Things that there are no answer to and are aimed at provocation so that then can then write a story with a reaction photo that talks about what a jerk the star was not wanting to talk about their day. 4) The same guy who was taking legit behind a barrier “actors working photos” up in Vancouver was the next day tweeting out Stephenie Meyer’s flight info when she wouldn’t give him the time of day, and he has a pattern of this type of behavior.
Some people think, well you’re famous, can’t you put up with a few photos? In our opinion, it’s not just the matter of people putting up with a few photos it’s a constant invasive hounding. It’s never being able to have a single private moment without your every word and action being warped for a sensationalistic media site’s economic gain. Anyway, we knew we’d never stop it from happening, but for us we just didn’t want to add any more into the laws of supply and demand, so we stopped covering things that made us uncomfortable. We’ll still cover fan encounters that don’t seem stalkerish (ie You bumped into a star on the street rather than you camped out on their kids school.), stars working if photos were taken behind barriers at a premiere or at a publicly visible movie shoot, but after that we decided it was just too hard to tell the manner in which photos were obtained.
Robert Pattinson had an episode of exactly what we are describing above. At first they were just photos of him out on the town in Malibu, then it was a constant stalking with a fabricated car accident. The grand irony is in the middle of the chaos, Rob actually signed some autographs for some teens who stumbled in the situation, so it’s not as if he isn’t appreciative of his fans. Every time a celebrity who is C-list at best comments on stars being divas for not being able to take the attention, they ought to walk in Rob’s shoes for a month and see how much they appreciate it.
Both E! and Gossip Cop have covered the story.
“Did Team Edward have a run-in with an age-old enemy?
Robert Pattinson is trying to shoot down reports that he slammed into a dude’s car in Malibu and then sped off without as much as exchanging insurance information.
Instead, the sparkly Twilight star is blaming his bad press on a pack of werewolves shutterbugs.
“Robert was pulling out of a parking space after a quiet day in Malibu and was relentlessly pursued by paparazzi,” his rep tells E! News. “He has no knowledge of having bumped or damaged another car in the process. The story has been manufactured for headlines.”
“The problem is: The media often portray events as they didn’t happen, in order to fit the narrative their readers been instructed to follow.
Robert Pattinson — like hundreds of other famous people — is hounded relentlessly by paparazzi. Surprisingly, just like everyone else, he doesn’t care for it.
Some celebs have handled their frustration with violence.
Others scream and carry on.
It’s not the best route to go, and it surrenders some of the moral high ground to the predatory photographers.
X17Online.com is pretending that Robert Pattinson made similar mistakes when pestered by paparazzi over the weekend. He supposedly “yells” at a photog after committing a “hit & run.” He got “pissy,” sneers the site.
It’s a total misrepresentation.
There’s no hitting and running. There’s no yelling. There’s no prima donna hissy fit. He barely even raises his voice.
Pattinson looks frustrated and exhausted, and he repeatedly — politely — asks the paps not to follow him. The outlet even provides video of the incident, and it shows Pattinson being completely civil.
You can even hear a photographer praising Pattinson as “such a nice guy.”
X17 asks viewers to ignore what they see in favor of a more dramatic, sensational confrontation. Consider that Pattinson is literally forced to pull off the California Pacific Highway to ask for some privacy and to ask nearby police officers (presumably) whether they can help. When the harassment begins, it’s still light outside. By the end, it’s dark. It’s ridiculous.
Yet X17 wants the takeaway message to be: If Pattinson can’t handle harassment, he shouldn’t be a celebrity. And if he does handle himself like a gentleman, just misrepresent events to make it look like he didn’t.
Shameful.”

New Interview With Breaking Dawn Cast
July 7, 2010 by Sara

Cinematical.com has a new interview with Breaking Dawn cast members Kristen, Rob, Taylor, and Peter!
In Breaking Dawn, what do you think Edward’s evolution will be?
Pattinson: I haven’t read it yet! I mean, it’s weird – I’m starting it a month after this job and it’s something I’m quite glad I haven’t read it yet. I didn’t intend to not read it until now, it’s quite exciting. I have no idea, I just heard brief rumors about what happens in the story but I don’t really know what happens at all
Your current haircut is shorter than Edward’s. How are you going to go about getting your long hair back for Breaking Dawn?
Pattinson: I’m thinking maybe Edward got a haircut – it might be easier. I didn’t even think about that when I got it cut, that is a bit silly. Vampires can cut their hair though, so I like the idea of Edward having a shaved head in the last one. That [would be] pretty cool.
Since Breaking Dawn will be two movies, do you if one movie will be from your perspective and one will be from Rob’s?
Lautner: I do know it will be two, which I am extremely excited about. It is going to be great. Bill Condon is doing both. I it going to be awesome and I can’t wait to work with him.
Do you have a clause in your contract saying you have to keep your shirt on?
Lautner: No clause (laughs). Whatever the book says is most likely what we are going to do.
How long have you known that Breaking Dawn was going to be two films, and how long will the shoot be?
Stewart: The shoot is going to be something like six months. We start in October. I think we’re not going to be finished until maybe March or something, maybe February. I clearly don’t really look at the schedule. I had to hold onto this forever. They’ve been talking about it for a really long time and we all definitely knew that it was going to be two movies forever now. It’s been really hard not to say that. We’re all really stoked on that.
What designer would love to see design Bella’s wedding dress and if you could dream it up what would it look like?
Stewart: Well, Stephenie [Meyer] is absolutely in charge of that. I’m sure she has really specific ideas. I haven’t really thought about it. But I feel like Bella would definitely want something like really classic and really simple, too but beautiful. I have no idea in terms of designers.
Would it be white?
Stewart: Yeah, or like creamy, but definitely classic. She doesn’t want to get married and because it means so much to Edward and because he has such different sensibilities and such different values, I think because she’s going to go ahead and go through with it she’s going to give him everything. I think it’s going to be like a really beautiful and monumental wedding because he wants that. Usually it’s the opposite. Usually the girl wants it. It’s cute.
What are you most looking forward to doing when you start shooting Breaking Dawn?
Facinelli: I’m looking forward to working with Bill Condon. He’s phenomenal. I’m looking forward to hearing what his thoughts are on the series and the movie. It’s cool because all these different directors have these different interpretations. You don’t get complacent and sit back and go, “Ok. I know these characters.” They’re always asking you different questions and getting you to think deeper.

Rob and Kristen Surprise Fans at LA Eclipse Showing
This was the last cast appearance at an Eclipse showing this past weekend. And apparently it was the best one as these lucky fans got to see Kristen and Rob! It was also the only showing Rob could make to because of his Water For Elephants schedule.
ECLIPSE: Worth the Wait
Like most “Twihards”, I’ve been anticipating this movie since the beginning of time (well, not quite that long, but you know what I mean). The book is my favorite of the series and as of now, the movie is my favorite of the three…by far. I attended the midnight showing in my neighborhood and dragged my husband back two days later. FYI, there were alot of guys in the theatre the second time aroud.
This was a long book so I was a bit concerned that some of my favorite scenes would be left out, and of course, some of them were. But here’s the thing; some of the scenes in this movie surpassed the book. I know…I know…. the movie is NEVER as good as the book, but one scene in particular stood out: The proposal.
The proposal in the book was great, don’t get me wrong. But Melissa Rosenberg took this to another level. I actually got goose bumps when Edward turned the conversation from how he would have “courted” Bella in his human era to a current, romantic, poetic marriage proposal. There was nothing corny about the scene. It was truly the most romantic scene of the saga to date.
But this is a review, so of course I will point out a few negatives. Number one, the movie clocks in at 124 minutes. The Karate Kid clocks in at 140 minutes which makes me wonder, “Why is Eclipse not longer?” So 124 minutes is not a short movie, but is Summit really that worried about screen times? There were some scenes (one in particular) that would have benefited from a lead in. When Edward drops off Bella to pass her to Jacob, there is no real explanation. Those who have read the books will get it, but anyone else might think it was odd. It felt as if something was missing so let’s hope there are some deleted scenes floating out there for us in the future. The Alice kidnapping scene was erased, but the movie played out well without it. MR does a fantastic job of blending parts of the novel together to make it work on screen. I suppose that’s why she still has the job.
One of my concerns going into the movie was Kristen’s wig (so right, I’m a chick and hair is a big issue with me). But I have to say, it was alright. Only once did I feel a slight cringe when the weave looked a bit like horsehair. Otherwise, it looked pretty darn natural. The magic of CGI I assume.
The highly anticipated “Tent Scene” lived up to the hype. I’m glad they re-shot this. It was perfect and the dialogue seemed to come right from that chapter in the book. It was one of the best scenes in the film which included one of the the best lines in the movie and delivered flawlessly by Taylor Lautner: “Well I AM hotter than you”.
Coolest scene in the movie? I’m still debating that myself. The Vampire fight training was pretty awesome, but the fight scene with the newborns was simply amazing. And when Victoria finds Edward and Bella on the mountaintop, my heart was racing. I knew what was going to happen, but I was still on the edge of my seat. Thank you, David Slade.
The actors took their performances quite seriously and pretty much nailed it. And is it just me, or does Robert Pattinson just keep getting better looking? Yes, I’m married, but you simply can’t help but notice. Of course, I have to mention Charlie. We just love him. He has great dialogue (thanks to SM and MR) but he delivers his lines like the pro he is.
Bryce Dallas Howard has been getting some criticism, but honestly, I liked her. I didn’t miss the original Victoria, but I do wish they had left off her wig. It was a bit overdone. Her natural hair would have been much better (like I said, I’m into hair).
The music in this film was right on. I downloaded the score after watching the midnight show and can’t get enough of the instrumental version of “Eclipse (All Yours)”. It played throughout the film and had the same impact as “My Heart Will Go On” in Titanic. Some of the songs from the soundtrack seemed to be missing, but all in all, the music set the appropriate tone.
I’ve read some professional reviews and still laugh when they criticize the love story as being “unrealistic”. We’re talking about Vampires and Werewolves here. Of COURSE it’s unrealistic. But the underlying message of love and commitment seems to be lost among some bloggers. Are our standards so low that we cannot hope to find a love as passionate and everlasting as Edward and Bella? If so, that’s just sad. I’ve read all the arguments and I think they’re silly. Readers and moviegoers are bright enough to love the story (or hate it) without analyzing it to death (no pun intended). But wouldn’t it be nice if your daughter’s boyfriend came out with the line, “not until we’re married”? A mother can dream!
