Seventeen Magazine – New Moon Set Secrets
Seventeen.com gives us some secrets from the Vancouver set of New Moon!
Facebook Stalkers
Despite trying to keep a low profile, the shoot locations were announced on Facebook when fans realized that New Moon had set up in their neighborhood. Local Vancouver radio station 94.5 also began broadcasting shoot locations, causing pandemonium during early filming.Twi-Hards
Fans slept on collapsible chairs with comforters to stay warm, but it paid off: Some lucky fans were used as extras for a parking lot scene. The Cullen’s New Digs
The Cullen residence was recreated for this movie in a 1950s modern home since the house used in the first film was in the Portland, Oregon, area (where Twilight filmed). The house was located in a leafy suburban area just north of Vancouver, BC.Protecting the Floors as Much as the Actors
While walking on set in the Cullen house, the crew and actors had to wear hospital booties on their shoes to protect the floors.
No Tweets Allowed!
A fake Twitter account was made in director Chris Weitz’s name at the beginning of the shoot. New Moon’s people had the account shut down since it wasn’t official, but an official account was just recently launched!Listening to Britney?
The area that became the actors’ home base, where all their trailers were parked, was nicknamed “Circus.”For Kristen’s Eyes Only
During filming, K.Stew was very serious about watching her playback. Immediately after finishing a scene, she would make her way over to the monitors and often covered the screen with her robe so that she could watch it alone.Prepping for the Role
To prepare for the scene when Carlisle is stitching up Bella’s arm, Peter Facinelli bought chickens and sewed them together to practice the movement. He would then cook the chickens and eat them for dinner at his hotel room.New Moon Roomies
During filming, Kristen Stewart shared a hotel room with Nikki Reed at the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Vancouver.Staying Warm on Set
Kristen changed into comfy Uggs between scenes to keep warm. She’s a Coke Girl!
Kristen drank Coca-Cola out of a straw between takes.Blurry Vision
The contacts that the vampire cast wore for their roles were often so blinding that they couldn’t read their e-mails with them in.Jackson’s Side Job
Jackson Rathbone’s band 100 Monkeys performed a live show for fans at record store Neptoon Records in downtown Vancouver.Peter’s Blond Moment
Peter Facinelli had his hair died for Twilight, but because the die irritated his head so much, he opted for a wig on New Moon.VIP Access Only
To disguise that they were filming New Moon, the badges to access the set said “USM” on them, which was the working title of the movie: Untitled Sports Movie.A Chill Birthday Party
While filming, the cast and some of Kristen Stewart’s friends helped her celebrate her 19th birthday at Chill Winston, a popular Vancouver restaurant.Does Rob Watch Over Her at Night?
Kristen told us she’s a good sleeper and can get to sleep when she needs to, which made the grueling, always-changing shooting schedule a little easier for her.
Lainey Gossip: Eclipse Filming Update
Lainey Gossip gives us an update on what Eclipse scenes were filmed this last week.
SPOILER ALERT!
Whatever the reason she’s in LA, it won’t be for long. Kristen is scheduled to work on Monday. As for what she’s been working on this week, it’s primarily been scenes in studio. The first few days were “tent interiors” with Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson as “Jacob” and “Edward” gushing all over her which, if I recall correctly, has to be one of the worst chapters ever written by Stephenie Meyer, and this is quite the self trump.
…
Anyway, after the tent scenes were completed, they continued to shoot the same location but this time with Xavier Samuel. “Riley” and “Victoria” show up. And then of course “Bella” is the ultimate hero because she cuts herself and the good guys triumph. Apparently they filmed alongside some kind of wolf suit.
Malicious Mandy Reports from Vancouver Eclipse Set
Malicious Mandy has a few set up dates as to what has been going on at the Eclipse set forBella Swan’s house -
They did a brief shoot at Bella’s house late afternoon. A few fans were there and one emailed me to say Taylor and Kristen were there. It is my understanding that Rob may have been there also, though I can’t confirm.
The other day when they were at Bella’s house filming “Edward was yelling at Jacob for kissing Bella” and after about 15 takes they wrapped.
*Spoiler*
Also, in the New Moon Movie Companion it says Bella’s house will stay up until the franchise is done, however, security was saying it would soon be torn down. I winder if they will tear it down and store it until Breaking Dawn or what the plan is for Breaking Dawn…. time will soon tell I suppose.
Here is Mandy’s Eclipse set Bella’s house update from yesterday -
Obviously today’s scene takes place in the Fall… but what scene?
**edit – yes Eclipse is graduation which is the Spring/Summer… could it be a Dream Sequence? I know they have done a lot of those…. hmmm….
after *JUST* reading the New moon Movie Companion Guide I am all confused on my stories…. (the seasons change outside Bella’s house to show passing of time during her depression without Edward in New Moon) but this is Eclipse soooo…
What scene do you think it is?
I do wonder WHO plants flowers and puts up awnings and pumpkins? Charlie is busy all the time and Bella is, well, preoccupied with her men… ha ha ha… yet their home is always up-to-date with the seasons and holidays neccessities LOL
You can check out Mandy’s reports here, here and here!
News From The Set of Eclipse
Katina from TwiFans.com has a great report of her experience at one of the EclipseVancouver sets recently -
Okay people, so I was LITERALLY the only fan next to Tuesday’s Eclipse set. Very exciting for me! Later in the day I was asked by the PA in front of the parking lot how I found the set. I mean really, the movie arrows and signs (even if they have nothing distinguishing them to be Eclipse) as well as the huge camouflage trucks and trailers are kind of a giveaway. I was told by a driver that it was filming for a “pie commercial.” They can’t fool me! Bwahaha!
Moving on – I came across the set on Monday night. There was nothing more than a few actor trailers and trucks, including the camo ones of course. I came by Tuesday morning to see if anything was happening. Not much. I’m glad that director David Slade tweeted about it being a night shoot, so I took a few shots and went about my day.
I came back Tuesday afternoon about 3 pm right when cars were beginning to arrive. I stayed until about 8 pm or so. The location was an old shipping yard with a dock in the back. Still active, but looked to have some unused wherehouses where they filmed. When I saw it in the morning, I knew they would be filming. I love how the buildings are old, dilapidated, and the white paint has really peeled off.
So how do I know (or think I know at least) that it was a newborn scene? Good question.
+ The only car of notice was David Slade’s black SUV arriving about 6:30. His usual driver and very young looking assistant were up front. No other recognizable cars like Kristen or Rob’s were there, so not the main stars.
+ There were an unusually high amount of regular cars, like 80-100 (no joke), meaning not only a lot of crew, but extras! And probably newborn vamps. The number of cars doesn’t even include the trailers, trucks, or transport vans.
+ There were 2 if not 3 mobile dressing room trucks, meaning lots of costumes for lots of people.
+ The background was an old wherehouse and dock, I’m thinking Seattle.
+ There was an ambulance on set, meaning stunts!

Canadian Mounties Guard Bella’s House
Last year the Canadian Mounted Police (AKA Mounties) ensured the safty of the production crew while they shot the beach and bike scenes at Tofino. This year they are located at Bella’s house.
“Imagine one of Canada’s famous Mounties. You know, the ones who appear in movies with giant stetsons and bright red serge tunics.
Now imagine vampires.
Canada’s famous police force and the world’s even more famous vampires had a meeting of sorts on Friday in Surrey, British Columbia, during a film shoot for Eclipse, the third installment in the uber popular Twilight series.
A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer guarded 28th street in Surrey on Friday, keeping twittering Twilight fans more than half a kilometre away from the set of Bella Swan’s house.”

The Twilight Phenomenon in Vancouver, BC
This article at the Globe and Mail talks about how the Twilight phenomenon is impacting things in Vancouver, BC.
“We’ve never seen this level of interest by the public in something that’s filming in British Columbia,” says B.C. Film Commissioner Susan Croome, who adds that, frankly, it worries her. “I think there’s always a concern about safety when you have large numbers of people gathering in an area that is effectively a production zone. People are moving around a lot, there’s heavy equipment, there’s vehicles, there’s a lot of elements, and so safety is always an issue on a film set. And when you have people that are keen to see what’s going on and maybe not part of the process it’s always a concern.”
There’s safety – and then there’s showbiz snitches. Some of the tips Goodson receives have to do with the film’s content. And, like Showbiz Spy, Goodson says PopSugar is getting some of that information directly from the set.
“I think that they try really hard to keep that set as closely guarded as possible. They have the cast sworn to secrecy about everything and they try to have the set sworn to secrecy about everything, but there’s a lot of people working on that movie and there’s a lot of opportunities out there for them to leak information and that’s how it gets out.
“Luckily for the franchise … it doesn’t seem to lessen anybody’s interest in it. It’s not like they get the scoop and they’re like, ‘Oh, I don’t need to watch the movie now.’ They just want to watch it more.”

Vancity Allie Sees Eclipse Newborn Vampires!
Vancity Allie visited the Eclipse set and took a few pics of some of the newborn vampires in action. Here is a description of what she saw:
I had a chance to see a new set being filmed for Eclipse… the scene where the newborns arrive in Forks. It’s a picturesque scene, with mountains and water framing the background of the shot, and a sparse unoccupied beach for the newborns to arrive on… then they disappear into the forest. The vampire newborns looked absolutely chilling, and their rugged military-like outfits along with steely, determined glares just added to the mood. Filmed early in the morning, this scene was designed to look as if it had been shot at night, possibly just after dusk or just before dawn.
Vancouver – Twilight Frenzy
The Vancouver Sun has a new article where they talk about how fans have flocked to Vancouver to catch a glimpse of Twilight Saga stars:
Celebrities have always felt quite comfortable in Vancouver and that’s part of our charm and our competitive advantage,” said B.C. Film Commissioner Susan Croome.
History will record that 2009 was the year that everything changed. When filming started last spring on New Moon, the second story in the Twilight saga by author Stephenie Meyer, fans flocked to filming locations in the hundreds, creating unprecedented security headaches for the producers.
Twilight stars Rob Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart are back in Vancouver making the third film, Eclipse, until the end of October and the hysteria shows no sign of letting up. The young stars are tracked by fans to their hotel and favourite restaurants and any bars and clubs where they might try to sneak a drink or see a band.
Fans travel from all over North America and as far away as New Zealand to track their vampire heroes in the hope of getting a picture or an autograph. Some have succeeded, many more failed.

E! Online Interview With Kellan Lutz
September 15, 2009 by Sara

In an interview with E!Online, Eclipse cast member Kellan Lutz reveals some new things about Eclipse -
“They’re just so complex, and I like to laugh and smile,” Twilight’s Emmett Cullen told E! News at the W Hotel’s lounge backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week just before the Monarchy show.
As for everyone’s favorite couple…
Yeah, Kellan’s not sure either.
“I don’t know what’s going on. I have no idea,” he claims. “I don’t hang out with Rob or Kristen.”
And while he promises that “a romance” is not the reason for this, he also quite clearly prefers one half of Robsten over the other.
“They are attractive humans, yes they are,” he admits. “I’m nice with Rob also. I look great with him too. I think I look better with Rob…Rob’s awesome. I love him to death.”
“It’s going great. We all love Vancouver. It’s just that there’s just so many paparazzi everywhere,” he admits. “We’ve been moving around to new places like every two weeks. Especially for Rob—we feel bad for him. Like, we go out to cast dinners, and whenever Rob’s shooting, that’s when we can have free time because usually that’s when everyone is trying to shoot Rob or Kristen. So then we can actually be free to walk around the city and shop and go out to eat. You know, when we want to do cast dinners, it’s tough because you can’t just chill.”

Eclipse – Filming Jasper’s Past
According to several sources, there was filming at a set near Vancouver last night for Eclipse– Twilight Examiner says–
The consensus seems to be that the scene being shot involves two vampires in some sort of dream sequence. Most agree that this is probably related to Jasper (Jackson Rathbone) and his experience with the character Maria (which has been cast with Catalina Sandino Moreno).
Eclipse Set Found in Vancouver
The very first set for Eclipse may have been found in Vancouver. It could be the set for Jasper’s flashback to the 1800’s in Texas where he is seen horseback riding. Above you can see the actual Texas mountains that will be portrayed in the fim, and to the right you can see the location in Vancouver where filming was taking place yesterday.
Malicious Mandy says–
They had torn down most everything and we chatted with crew still tearing down. There were dark black screens (typically they are white and used for either blocking views or reflecting light)
I asked why they were black (perhaps it was too sunny yesterday and instead of reflecting light as the white ones do, they were absorb light?) and they told us they were not for lighting purposes at all but to block the paparzzi… wait…. how many movies are being filmed right now that would require paparzzi?
